In a recent article from Yahoo Malaysia, The International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA), University of Malaya (UM) today commemorated its 10th anniversary with three book launches. The Member of Parliament for Johor Baharu, Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad launched the books — “The United States and The Malaysian Economy”, “Case Studies on Government Programs and Policies” and “Cetusan Minda Arshad Ayub” (The Thoughts and Reflections of Arshad Ayub). “The United States and The Malaysian Economy” is authored by Associate Professor Dr Shakila Yacob, who is a business historian and Deputy Director at INPUMA. “Case Studies on Government Programs and Policies”, published by UM Press, is authored by Dr Sharifah Mariam Alhabshi, a Public Policy specialist and Deputy Director at INPUMA, while “Cetusan Minda Arshad Ayub” is edited by Associate Professor Dr Khadijah Md. Khalid, a political scientist and INPUMA’s Executive Director. According to INPUMA’s statement here today, the United States Embassy has awarded USD10,000 (approximately RM35,000) to INPUMA to conduct a historical documentation of the old Taiping courthouse in Taiping, Perak. The contribution is part of a grant under the US Embassy Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation. UM Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Ghauth Jasmon received a mock-cheque of USD10,000 from the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, Marrie Y. Schaefer, witnessed by Shahrir, at a cheque presentation ceremony held during a luncheon of the 10th anniversary of INPUMA at a local hotel, earlier today.
