In a Star Online article, even the capital of Malaysia is experiencing the effects of climate change and whether unpredictability, as some areas in Kuala Lumpur was flooded due to heavy downpour yesterday, causing massive traffic congestion in main roads of the city.
A stretch of the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway was under water while other affected areas were Jalan Pudu, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, the Federal Highway and several locations in Wangsa Maju. According to Kuala Lumpur City Hall corporate communications manager Anwar Mohd Zain, the water was from excess rainwater that did not recede in time. The flooding caused massive traffic jams throughout the city, made worse by the closure of the Smart tunnel which was used to divert water to prevent flooding in the city centre.
