The Star Online highlighted an article concerning the condemnation of Michael Learns To Rock concert in Genting Highlands this coming September 5th by PAS Youth. What makes it strange and inadequate was that instead of asking for a postponement of the concert, they are threatening to prevent the whole event by any means necessary. PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi, in a press statement yesterday, said his party would not hesitate in mobilizing its members to prevent the concert from happening if the performance was not stopped. He said said the Cabinet’s ap-proval was “an insult to all Muslims in the country.” The movement had also protested previous gigs by Beyonce, Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani. True, they may stake a claim that it was inappropriate to have such an event during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. But it would do little harm, much less an insult, as according to a recent June 2009 article by The Star Online, the concert would be held after fasting hours – 8pm, at the Genting Arena of Stars at Genting Highlands. In support to this fact, Star Planet, the organiser of Michael Learns to Rock show here, denies allegation the concert violated the dignity of Muslims. Its chief operating officer, Carmen Liew, said the show would go on as scheduled. “The green light was given when we approached the authorities. We are not violating any guidelines. In fact, we have abided by Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes (Puspal) rules that also provides for guidelines on concerts to be held during the fasting month,” she said. I think PAS youth insult not only muslims but every one with their total tunnel vision which notbody aprt from them agrees with. I hope they do mobilise and the police lock them all up and throw away the key. They are attempting to insight religious hatred by making their stupid statements If muslims dont want to go they dont have to the same as budists, christians and whoever else have the choice. We dont hear them moaning when there is a show on Christmas Day, (how offensive to Christians) all we hear from them is islam this and that and it appears most the time their interpretations dont agree with everybody elses in Malaysia if they want to live like Saudi’s they have the option to live their is Saudi would except them (probably not)Lets face it they should not be at Genting anyway if for drinking gambling and fun Im sure they wouldnt want to be involved in any of that would they? Specially not during their religious month.
